This Pratt Through Truss bridge is one of a four crossing of the Walnut River in the town of Winfield.
The only bridge with two truss spans, the bridge was built in 1903 to replace an earlier truss bridge.
Each of the 7-panel, pin connected Pratt Through Truss spans are supported on concrete piers and approached by I-Beam spans.
The joints of this bridge have been treated to prevent failure of the joints of the bridge.
Overall, the bridge remains in good condition. The least used bridge of the four in Winfield, this bridge should continue to support traffic for years to come.
The author has ranked this bridge as being moderately significant, due to the truss design.
The photo above is an overview. The bridge can be accessed from the road underneath.
